Status nobody can fake
Green means something again.
Trellis works out health from the work itself, shows how old every number is, and never rewrites a reading. Nobody types a status, and nobody can quietly edit the past.

The problem
Most status is an opinion with a color.
Someone marks a project green because it feels fine. A KPI last updated in May sits on the dashboard in September, looking current. When the board asks why, the answer is a meeting, not a record.
How Trellis handles it
Computed from the work, dated, and kept.
01
Health is computed
A milestone is judged by its status and due date. An initiative takes the worst of its milestones; an objective the worse of its initiatives and its measures; a focus area the worst of its objectives. Recomputed every time you look.02
Staleness is its own signal
Every number carries the date it was true. Past the freshness window (35 days unless you set your own), it is marked stale, whatever its color. A card can be healthy and stale at once, and Trellis shows both.03
Readings are never overwritten
Each reading is a new record with its date and its author. A correction is added beside the original, which stays on file.04
Overrides are visible
An initiative owner can override the computed health, but only with a reason, and the card shows the override beside what the milestones say. Plan changes are written to an audit log: who, what, before, after, and when.

Why it matters
The history is an audit trail, which matters when these measures feed incentive pay.
Many companies tie part of their bonus plan to the same measures the strategy runs on. When a number can’t be edited after the fact, and every value carries its date and its author, the year-end conversation starts from a record everyone trusts.
The rule behind it
Health and staleness are computed, never typed.
It is the first rule Trellis was built on. Status earned from the work is the only kind worth reporting, and a number without a date is a number nobody can trust.
