The plan coach
A second pair of eyes that knows the method.
Trellis checks the plan against the Trellis Method all the time, and says where it breaks: work with no outcome, outcomes nobody is working on, and anything without a name on it.

The problem
Plans fail in ways nobody is looking for.
Nine focus areas that are really a to-do list. An objective with no measure. A project that serves nothing. None of these shows up in a status report, because nobody reports on what isn’t there.
How Trellis handles it
What the coach checks.
01
The shape of the plan
Fewer than three focus areas or more than five. More than six objectives under one focus area. A vision longer than one sentence, or with no horizon set.02
Outcomes and the work
An objective with no measure, or with only lagging ones. An objective no initiative is working on. Work tied to no objective at all.03
Names and time
Any objective, initiative or milestone without an accountable owner. An initiative nobody’s time is committed to, and anyone committed past what they have.04
In plain words, by severity
Each gap says what is wrong and what to do next. Blockers stay raised until they are fixed. An admin sets the limits for your company, so they fit the way you plan.05
One score, with its working shown
The plan scores out of 100: 30 for its shape, 40 for whether the work is moving, 30 for whether the rhythm is kept. A plan nobody reviews cannot score well, and every point lost names its gap.06
Whether the practice is taking hold
Beside the score, the adoption report shows who is keeping the plan current, who has lapsed, and how long new people take to make their first contribution. It measures the practice, never the people’s results.
What you see
Gaps, in the plan’s own words.
- “Brand refresh microsite” serves no objective.warning
- An initiative has no one’s time committed to it.blocker
- An objective is measured only by lagging numbers.note
Why it matters
A COO gets the plan reviewed before the board does.
The awkward questions arrive early, from the plan itself, instead of in the meeting where someone asks who actually owns this.
The rule behind it
Coach the gap; never refuse the plan.
Trellis lets you land an imperfect plan and then says, specifically, what would make it better. The method is the standard; the plan is yours.
